West Ham United’s Declan Rice has been praised by John Terry and Tottenham Hotspur’s Joe Hart after scoring his first goal for England last night.
Rice headed home from a Phil Foden free-kick to put England on their way to a 4-0 victory over Iceland on what was a special night for West Ham midfielder.
Rice was keen to celebrate his goal on social media after the game.
And the West Ham youngster was inundated with messages.
Terry wrote ‘congratulations mate’, while Tottenham’s Hart was keen to praise his former teammate.
He said: “MAN like Dec. Well done pal.”
James Collins was another former West Ham player to write on Rice’s social media.
“Congrats brother… many more caps and goals to come,” he posted.
And Jack Wilshere also left a note saying: “Love it deccy boy.”
Rice was also given messages from the likes of Jadon Sancho, Jarrod Bowen and Ravel Morrison, on one of the best nights of his career to date.
Rice now seems to have established a role for himself in the England team, with Gareth Southgate often picking the West Ham man.
Rice seems to have become the Three Lions’ first choice in defensive midfield, and the West Ham man will surely be hoping that remains the case until next summer’s European Championships.
Rice’s attention will now return to club matters ahead of the weekend, when the Hammers take on Sheffield United.
