Newcastle United have made an approach for Fabio Borini but the Aston Villa-linked free agent is heading to Turkey with Goztepe, according to Turkish publication Sarikimirzi.
It is no secret that the versatile forward has a return to the Premier League in his sights.
Borini has been training with former club Liverpool since being let go by AC Milan at the end of August and, according to Calciomercato, the 29-year-old recently turned down offers from MLS and Spain as he awaits an offer from a club in England.
It is nearly three months since his AC Milan contract expired, however.
And despite an approach from Newcastle (SerieB), plus tentative interest from Aston Villa (TMW) and West Ham (CM), it seems that Borini’s patience is running thin.
He has already lost 12 weeks of his footballing life and, as he closes in on his 30th birthday, the one-time Chelsea starlet will be chomping at the bit, desperate to get his career back on track.

Reports from Turkey claim that Goztepe have made contact with Borini’s camp, knowing that a man who spent last season on loan at Hellas Verona is keen to test himself outside his home country.
Goztepe coach Ilhan Palut apparently wants a new left-winger and believes Borini, who is also capable of playing through the middle, on the right or even at wing-back, is the man for the job.
There is still time, of course, for a Newcastle side who recently lost top scorer Callum Wilson to a potentially serious injury to make a move of their own for a forward who spent three years at bitter rivals Sunderland.
Interestingly, Borini was relegated with the Black Cats in 2017 – under West Ham boss David Moyes no less.
