Tottenham Hotspur fans will be encouraged to read the Welsh press’s reviews of Joe Rodon’s display against Ireland last night.

The Spurs defender was handed the chance to start for his country yesterday and he continued to impress.

Rodon helped Wales to a 1-0 win over Ireland and Wales Online handed him an 8/10 rating.

“Solid as ever. Made several crucial interventions at the back, the highlight being a world class tackle to halt Adam Idah in the first half. The Tottenham man looks more and more assured with each performance,” they said.

Danny Gabbidon also praised the Tottenham man, as his display caught the eye.

The reviews of Rodon’s display can only be encouraging for Tottenham fans, as they wait to see what the 22-year-old can do.

Rodon arrived at Spurs from Swansea City, but he has barely been utilised so far.

The youngster has spent most his time on Jose Mourinho’s side’s bench, although he does seem to have moved ahead of Davinson Sanchez in the pecking order already.

Tottenham’s Gareth Bale also played in the contest, but he did not quite earn such lavish reviews.

Bale still picked up a 7/10 rating, but the praise of the Tottenham man was far more modest.

“A superbly hit free-kick aside, he didn’t really get into the game in the first half,” Wales Online wrote.

“Forced far too deep to really bother the Irish defence, but looked much better after the break after the change of system. Teed up Brooks brilliantly for the goal.”

Ben Davies also featured in the contest and was handed a 7/10 rating.
