The Mandalorian season 2 added a new name to its cast in Chapter 11, Mercedes Varnado, but just who is she and where might fans have seen her before?

Season 2 of The Mandalorian has seen Mando and the Child go in search of the mysterious race of sorcerors known as Jedi in order to reunite Baby Yoda with his own kind.

To do that, Mando must first find more Mandalorians who can hopefully point him in the right direction in his search. In Chapter 11, he finally finds some.

On the estuary moon of Trask, Mando is rescued by three Mandalorians after a crew of Quarren fishermen attempt to steal his Beskar armour.

The episode’s end credits confirm that one of the three Mandalorians is played by an actress named Mercedes Varnado but just who is she?

Who is Mercedes Varnado?

Mercedes Justine Kaestner-Varnado is an up and comer in the world of acting as The Mandalorian marks her first-ever professional acting role.

However, many fans will have seen Mercedes Varnado before, potentially without realising, as she’s often known better by another name, Sasha Banks, of WWE fame.

That’s right, The Mandalorian’s Mercedes Varnado is actually a professional wrestler in her main career and has worked her way up from the independent wrestling circuit since making her debut in 2010.

After impressing in her early years, Mercedes was signed up to the WWE’s NXT series in 2012, taking on the name Sasha Banks in the process.

Since then, Sasha Banks, who is now 28 years old, has grown to become one of WWE’s biggest stars and her appearance in season 2 of The Mandalorian has been widely hyped and speculated about after she appeared in the new season’s trailer.

Who does she play?

  • Mercedes Varnado takes on the role of Koska Reeves in Chapter 11 of The Mandalorian.

Koska Reeves is a Mandalorian warrior who is part of the Nite Owls, a unit of Mandalorian soldiers led by Bo-Katan, who we also meet in Chapter 11.

Little is revealed about Koska Reeves’ character but she’s shown to be an adept fighter, an appropriate trait for an actress with a wrestling background.
