The former Leeds United youngster Luke Lyons has joined two of his ex-Whites teammates at Bradford Park Avenue.

The Green Army confirmed Lyons’ arrival on Friday afternoon, strengthening a side to which Matthew Downing and Will Huffer were recently added after their own Leeds departures.

Speaking via the non-league side’s official website afterwards, the Scotland youth international said: “[I’m] really happy to have signed for Bradford (Park Avenue). After a tough couple of years it feels good to be at a club with a great bunch of lads. Having known a few of them and how highly they spoke of the club, it was a no-brainer to join. [I] can’t wait to get going and I’m looking forward to the journey.”

Lyons came through the ranks at Leeds but, just like Downing, failed to make a first-team breakthrough at Elland Road.

Huffer, on the other hand, appeared once under Marcelo Bielsa and spent time on loan at Barnet.

The Park Avenue manager Mark Bower said following the deal: “Luke has been training with us now for a while and has shown the type of hunger and appetite which we know are needed to succeed in football.

“He’s got great athletic ability and that’s essential for a centre half and will learn a lot from the likes of Luca [Havern], Rossy [Mark Ross] and maybe even myself.

“Like a lot of the young lads we have around the club, Luke has bags of potential, and we hope that he and the others grab the opportunity of playing men’s football and push on up the pyramid.”

Meanwhile, another former Leeds youngster, Hugo Diaz, was today unveiled by the Polish top-flight side Korona Kielce.

Diaz left Elland Road in 2019, with just one outing to show for his two years’ service, and was released by Getafe B earlier this year.
