Baby Yoda in The Mandalorian Chapter 10

Since he was first introduced, Baby Yoda has been a green bundle of adorable innocence, apart from that time he tried to choke Cara Dune when she was arm-wrestling Mando.

That all changed in Chapter 10, The Passenger, when Mando and the Child welcomed a traveller onto their ship, a frog lady with a clutch of eggs, the last brood of her life cycle, that need to be taken to her husband to be fertilised.

Baby Yoda is instantly infatuated with the orange spheres and when they’re left unattended in the Razor Crest’s cargo hold, he sneakily strikes.

Moments later, Mando comes down to rest but finds the Child with the open container and an egg in his hand, which he quickly gulps down.

This isn’t an isolated incident either as the cheeky Child continues to chow down on the frog lady’s spawn throughout the episode.

Fans want Baby Yoda cancelled

In 2020, more and more big-name celebrities have faced social media’s cancel culture for doing something controversial or for holding a certain belief.

Now, the once-innocent Baby Yoda is facing cancellation calls for his genocidal appetite.

With their tongues firmly planted in their cheeks, Mandalorian fans have taken issue with Baby Yoda’s egg-eating antics in Chapter 10 as if he had been left unchecked, he would undoubtedly have eaten Frog Lady’s entire brood.

As mentioned in the episode, the clutch of eggs is the final one she can produce and if they aren’t fertilised then her family line will end.

Little is known about Frog Lady’s species so for all we know, Baby Yoda could be munching away on the eggs of an endangered species, unwittingly committing genocide on the last beings of their kind.

Social media reacts

Following the Child’s peckish acts in Chapter 10, plenty of fans have taken to Twitter to joke about him being cancelled for his egg-eating antics.

One ‘fan’ on Twitter wrote: “Unstanning baby yoda because he was canceled for doing genocide,” before adding in a separate tweet, “never watched this show.”

Meanwhile, this fan reasoned: “On one hand they were unfertilised, so like eating a chicken egg. On the other they are the last chance she has to have offspring… So, I would definitely call it a heinous act, but genocide? Not so much.”

And finally, this fan turned the attention to a previous act of evil in Star Wars:
