Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has snapped after hearing comments from Real Madrid playmaker Toni Kroos.
The Germany international described the Gabon international’s decision to celebrate wearing a Black Panther mask against Rennes in 2018/19 as ‘where it ends with me’ on the podcast ‘Einfach mal Luppen’ (via Bild).
In response to that, Aubameyang angrily tweeted: ‘By the way, does this @ToniKroos have kids? Just to remember I did it for my son few times and I will do it again I wish you have kids one day and make them happy like this Junior School pupils talk and don’t forget #maskon#staysafe‘
Kroos also took aim at Barcelona attacker Antoine Griezmann for his Fortnite-related celebration in tribute to the popular video game.
The former Bayern Munich midfielder – who moved to the Santiago Bernabeu for £20 million – described the Frenchman’s celebration as ‘fidgeting’ when chatting to the aforementioned podcast.
It is admirable to see Aubameyang – who has scored four goals this season – defend his celebration and reveal that he did it for his son, while also stating that he would do the same again.

In truth, we’re not sure why Kroos is so against such a celebration.
Wolves striker Raul Jimenez pulled on a mask to celebrate his goal against Watford in the FA Cup semi-final back in 2019.

Celebrations are no longer as simplistic as Alan Shearer’s one-arm-in-the-air festivities, and Kroos simply needs to get with the times.
Additionally, it is certainly not the time to criticise someone for wearing a mask during these unprecedented times…
