Jamie Carragher has named Dominic Calvert-Lewin as the third best striker in the Premier League on TalkSPORT’s YouTube channel.
There are no prizes for guessing the two attackers that were picked ahead of Calvert-Lewin with Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane making up the top two, but he has picked the Everton forward ahead of Golden Boot winner Jamie Vardy.
“At number three, I’m going to go for Dominic Calvert-Lewin who has finally shown he is a true Everton number nine.” Carragher said.
There’s no doubting that Calvert-Lewin has been exceptional this season, netting eight goals in eight Premier League games so far, but to put him above Vardy is a massive call.
Vardy may be 33, but he was the Premier League’s top scorer last season, and he’s on track to repeat that feat again this season, sitting as the league’s joint-top scorer after eight games.

Calvert-Lewin has probably been better than Vardy this season, after all, a number of Vardy’s goals have come from the penalty spot, but Vardy has the consistency over a longer period, so to rank the Everton forward above him is a big call.
Of course, this is just Carragher’s opinion, and anyone can feel free to disagree with his view, but the fact that Calvert-Lewin is being considered on a list like this shows just how much he has improved over the past year or so.
Hopefully, the Toffees’ star man can continue to climb this list, and if he continues his current form, we may be talking about him rivalling Kane and Salah as the Premier League’s best striker by the end of the season.
