The former England manager Steve McClaren has claimed that Jose Mourinho is making Tottenham Hotspur into a ‘horrible team’.
Mourinho had already declared the Tottenham side he inherited from Mauricio Pochettino ‘too nice’ – and McClaren concurred with that assessment in an interview with Talksport on Monday.
It followed another late win for Spurs on Sunday, which took them temporarily to the top of the Premier League.
Reflecting on that 1-0 success, McClaren said: “It’s only a matter of time before Mourinho gets Tottenham playing how they want to.
“They’ve always been a good team, a nice team.
“He’s making them a horrible team – a horrible team to play against.
“And horrible teams win trophies.”

Tottenham last won a trophy in 2008, in which time Mourinho has won 10 with Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester United – excluding the Community Shield and overseas equivalents.
Spurs ended the weekend second in the Premier League, a point behind Leicester City.
They also top their Europa League group and are through to the League Cup quarter finals, with their FA Cup campaign due to commence in January.
