Bayern Munich star Serge Gnabry has joked that Arsenal would be the favourites to sign him if he ever returned to England.
The Gunners allowed the Germany international to depart for Werder Bremen in 2016, where he then joined Bayern Munich a year later in a deal worth €8 million (£7.2 million).
James Benge, who interviewed Gnabry for CBS Sports, wrote: ‘Yet there is no ill will from Gnabry toward English football. Quite the contrary. He speaks of Arsenal in particular with great warmth, joking that if he were to come back to the Premier League, the Gunners would be “the favourite”.’
If a move of that ilk did materialise in the next few years, the north Londoners would be getting a fine player who has improved immeasurably since leaving England.
The 25-year-old scored 23 goals in all competitions last season as Bayern Munich lifted the Champions League, while he also amassed 14 assists as well.

Gnabry’s 23-goal haul included four goals in one game against Arsenal’s north London rivals Tottenham, while he also scored twice against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
So far this season, the Stuttgart-born forward has scored four goals in nine games – he has truly become one of the best attackers in Europe since leaving the Emirates.
His comments are interesting, to say the least.

While Benge states that Gnabry is joking when discussing a potential return to Arsenal, we presume that his statement wouldn’t be too far from the truth.
The Gunners are doing well under Mikel Arteta right now, and seeing as the German came through Arsenal’s academy and spent five years of his career at the club, surely it would tempt him to return to familiar surroundings.
Just imagine a strike force of Gnabry, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Nicolas Pepe – a truly mouthwatering prospect.
