Who is Dr Steve Pieczenik?
Dr Steve Pieczenik is an author, psychiatrist and ex-Department of State official. Born in Havana, Cuba, he moved with his family to Harlem New York at just six years old.
According to his site, he received his B.A. from Cornell University and trained in Psychiatry at Harvard.
Age is but a number to Pieczenik who doesn’t let a generation gap come between him and technology. He seems to be quite popular on social media, with more than 68k followers on Twitter @stevepieczenik and 99k subscribers on his YouTube channel.
Although he’s a psychiatrist by trade, he also writes pscyho-political thrillers, including the Tom Clancey’s Op-Centre and Tom Clancey’s Net Force book series.
Dr Steve Pieczenik’s work as a Government official
Dr Steve Pieczenik put his psychiatry skills to use in his role as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, which he occupied under Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter and Bush Sr.
He also served as Senior Policy Planner under president Ronald Reagan and worked as the Principal International Crisis Manager and Hostage Negotiator under Secretaries of State Henry Kissinger and Cyrus Vance.
Dr Pieczenik says he resigned over President Carter’s decisions in handling the Iran Hostage siege. He went on to help create the strategy used to fight the Soviet Union without warfare during the Cold War.
What does Dr Pieczenik do now?
Dr Steve Pieczenik still volunteers his services as a consultant to the Department of Defence, and uses his skills in several industries, including investment banking, medicine and TV.
He also acts as an Angel Investor for several start-up companies.
