Sean McGurk’s performance for Wigan Athletic’s Under-18s this week got the seal of approval from a Leeds United player.

McGurk, an attacking midfielder who does not turn 18 until March next year, posted the following on Instagram afterwards.

And Max Dean, the Leeds youth team striker, was among those who commented.

Dean, who moved to Leeds from Everton in the summer transfer window, scored his second goal in three games for the Whites U23s against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The 16-year-old has also found the net twice in as many games in this season’s EFL Trophy.

McGurk is one of several talented youngsters who have recently caught the eye in Wigan’s youth ranks.
