Mauricio Pochettino has told Monday Night Football, which was broadcast on Sky Sports, that he feels Harry Kane and Nacer Chadli saved his job at Tottenham Hotspur.
Pochettino had a wonderful spell in charge at Tottenham, where he delivered a huge amount of success, but things didn’t always go smoothly.
Indeed, his first 10 games at the club certainly didn’t go to plan.
Tottenham were struggling badly for results and were 1-0 down against Aston Villa in the 84th minute with pressure mounting on Pochettino.
The Argentine admits that he even told his coaching staff to get ready to be sacked, before goals from Chadli and Kane turned the game around.
Tottenham ultimately won 2-1, and Pochettino feels those strikes saved him from the sack.
“That day we were 1-0 down, difficult game, and in a moment I turned to Jesus, Miguel and Toni and said ‘I think we need to prepare the bag and go back to Barcelona’,” he revealed.

“Then some energy appeared and said ‘wait we need time’.
“Then we win the game with Chadli the scorer and then Harry Kane the free-kick.”
Tottenham will be so glad that they didn’t sack Pochettino now, as he did a wonderful job at the club.
Pochettino may never have delivered a trophy, but he formed a strong bond with their supporters and turned Tottenham into a competitive force once again.
