Roy Keane said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:24pm, November 1, 2020) that Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang disrespected manager Mikel Arteta last night.

The former Manchester United midfielder believes that Aubameyang should not have called Arteta by his first name following the match at Old Trafford.

The Gunners won the Premier League game 1-0 on Sunday evening, with the Gabon international striker scoring the only goal from the penalty spot.

During the post-match interview on Sky Sports, the 31-year-old referred to Arteta by his first name Mikel.

Former United star Keane did not like it and said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:24pm, November 1, 2020): “They didn’t show him respect when they called him by his name Mikel. He is the manager, the boss, the gaffer. That’s respect. Not Mikel.”

Is Roy Keane wrong?

While one could argue that Aubameyang should have referred to Arteta as the ‘manager’ or the ‘boss’ in public at least, just because the striker said ‘Mikel’ in front of Sky Sports cameras does not mean that he was disrespectful to the Spaniard.

Maybe Arteta does not mind Aubameyang or any other Arsenal player referring to him by his first name.

What is important is that the players listen to Arteta and follows his instructions on the pitch to win football matches, and they seem to be doing that.

Arsenal were the better team against United at Old Trafford and deservedly picked up all three points from the Premier League game.
