Premier League champions Liverpool have joined the growing array of clubs keen to sign Reading sensation Michael Olise in 2021, according to TEAMtalk, with Merseyside rivals Everton also interested.

Considering this Reds side are famed for snapping up exciting, hungry young talent with potential by the bucketload, it should be no surprise the Football League’s most exciting prospect has admirers at Anfield.

18-year-old Olise has been a revelation in 2020/21 and is one of the main reasons why an unfancied Reading side are four points clear at the top of the Championship table – despite losing to Coventry City on Friday.

The teenage Frenchman is perhaps the first name on Veljko Paunovic’s team sheet, producing three assists and two stunning goals so far this season.

The first, a 25-yard volley against Barnsley, was followed by a Messi-esque solo effort in a 4-2 trouncing of Blackburn, showcasing both his power and technical ability.

Unfortunately for Reading, keeping Olise for the whole campaign may prove difficult.

The one-time Manchester City youngster has already been linked with Arsenal, Leeds and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

TEAMtalk now claims Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea, Napoli, Monaco, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund are keen too.

Olise has just 18 months left on his contract and the report adds Reading are fully aware of the mounting interest. Expect the France U18 star to be offered fresh terms sooner rather than later.

“Michael is a real talent, he’ll get on the ball in any situation. He’s fearless. If you ask him today, I’ll guarantee he had no nerves,” teammate Sam Baldock told the Reading Chronicle in January.

“He’s a lively character and one who I’ve noticed a real change in the last couple of months.

“He’s knuckled down and realised he’ll have to win the respect of his teammates by working hard.”
