Arsenal fans on Twitter were in awe at how Thomas Partey dominated the midfield during their 1-0 win at Manchester United tonight.
Partey started in the middle of the park for Arsenal, with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes on the other side, as Arsenal fans feel their player bossed the show.
Prior to the 27-year-old Ghana man joining the club this summer, a lot was made about how Arsenal are in need of bite and aggression in midfield.
Well, the Arsenal fans saw that in full flow today because he was aggressive, won his duels high up the field and he was continually winning possession and getting his teammates on the ball.
That allowed Arsenal’s more attack-minded players – the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Bukayo Saka and Willian – to push further up the field and be more on the front foot.
Whilst Partey isn’t a creative player, he is the type of midfielder who, as he showed at Old Trafford, can run the show and get the best out of the players around him.
This is the reason why Arsenal signed Partey and it’s fair to say that their fans are pretty chuffed that he is wearing their colours and delivering the goods.
Now it’s a case of the former Atletico Madrid man putting up consistent displays for the Gunners because if he does that then it’ll bode well for where Arteta wants to take this team.
