If you enjoy tense, high risk and dramatic television series or movies about international espionage, the Israeli-led spy series ‘Tehran’ is a must-watch.

The first season of Tehran has just concluded on Apple TV, but will the series return for a second mission in 2021?

Will there be a season 2 of Tehran?

  • At the time of writing, Tehran has not been officially renewed for season 2 by Kan 11, Cineflix or Apple TV, but a second season has not been ruled out either.

Whilst an official announcement regarding the future of Tehran has not yet been made, the series is likely to return for a second mission at some point.

Not only did the season 1 finale end on a cliff-hanger with Tamar and Milad making their escape on a motorbike, but the series remains extremely popular with fans around the world.

Unfortunately, the streaming numbers for Tehran season 1 on Apple TV have not been made available, but the thriller is currently scoring a 7.3/10 on IMDB and 93% on Rotten Tomatoes – which will most likely merit a renewal.

This article will be updated as soon as more information on Tehran season 2 is revealed, so keep secretly checking in!

Tehran season 2 release date…

As Tehran is yet to be officially renewed for a second season, a release date for season 2 has not been revealed. However, fans can expect the hit espionage series to return at some point in late 2021.

From the start of filming to the national premiere in Israel, Tehran has a roughly 8-month production cycle. If we assume that production on season 2 will experience a slight streamlining, as most sequels do, the series could theoretically premiere nationally in June 2021.

However, with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic continuing to delay production on countless television projects around the world and the view that the series wouldn’t be released on Apple TV until a few months after the national premiere, a September or October 2021 window looks the most likely.
