Bologna are confident they will soon be able to demand more than £30 million for Takehiro Tomiyasu after Newcastle and West Ham United showed an interest in the Japan international, according to Calciomercato.
While the Hammers appear to have solved their right-back problem for years to come with the inspired addition of Vladimir Coufal, another Premier League club could come calling for Tomiyasu again in January.
Newcastle have a trio of experienced right-sided defenders on their books.
But while neither Javier Manquillo nor Emil Krafth have set the world alight in black and white, out of favour DeAndre Yedlin will head out of St James’ Park sooner rather than later with his contract due to expire in July.
According to the Chronicle, Newcastle’s scouts liked what they saw of Tomiyasu after watching the Bologna defender in action earlier this year.
Bologna sporting director Walter Sabatini made it clear the versatile 21-year-old wasn’t going anywhere in the summer, however, with the Italian club confident they will be able to demand a much larger fee for their prized asset sooner rather than later (Goal).

Calciomercato reported the Rossoblu, who currently value Tomiyasu at £23 million, believe he will be worth more than £30 million if he continues to develop at such a rapid rate.
Right now, it seems unlikely West Ham will renew their interest in 2021 – but it can’t be ruled out (Standard).
Tomiyasu is also capable of playing centre-half and defensive midfield and that adaptability could prove invaluable to David Moyes.
