Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will release soon on Nintendo Switch, and in order to help players decide whether they want to buy it, a demo version of the game has been added to the Nintendo eShop.
A prequel to the seminal The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Age of Calamity tells the story of the rise of Calamity Ganon, and the wars that took place a hundred years before the events of the Nintendo Switch launch title.
The game features the musou style of gameplay popularised in the Dynasty Warriors series, which is a significant departure from the standard Zelda formula.
How to get the Age of Calamity demo on Switch
To download the Age of Calamity demo, simply open the Nintendo Switch eShop and search for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. The eShop doesn’t currently feature the game prominently for all players, so it may require some searching. You’ll have the option to either pre-order the game, or download the new demo.
It’s also possible to access the eShop on a computer or phone, in which case, the process is similar – navigate to the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity page, then click on the demo download link. Provided you are signed in to your Nintendo account, your Switch will begin downloading the demo when it is next turned on.
In order to download the demo, you’ll need enough memory space on your Switch console. The demo takes up 1.3 GB of space, so depending on how many other games or demos you own digitally, you may need to archive some content. This can be done in the settings menu on the Switch, which can be found by tapping or clicking on the gear symbol on the Switch home screen.
How long is the Age of Calamity demo?
The demo for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity takes around two hours to complete and includes the game’s opening missions, featuring several early battles in their entirety.
It’s a rather generous slice of the full game that should give players plenty of opportunity to decide whether they want to buy the full title.
Progress from the demo will continue into the main game, so it’s possible to treat this as an early taster sessions for Age of Calamity. This should tide over eager players until the full game releases on November 20th.
