The first season of the hit K-drama Record of Youth has just concluded, but what are the chances that the series will return for season 2?
2020 may have been pretty rough. but thankfully this year has been filled with brilliant Korean dramas that millions of fans around the world have fallen in love with.
Arguably one of the best romantic comedies of the year has been Record of Youth, a story about three lovable characters (played by three incredible actors) making their way through the contemporary fashion industry.
It’s a rather sad day for fans of the series, with today’s episode marking the season 1 finale. However, fans are already desperate to know if and when Record of Youth could return for season 2.
Will there be a season 2 of Record of Youth?
- At the time of writing, Record of Youth has not been renewed for a second season by tvN or Netflix, nor has it been officially cancelled.
With the continuous production line of big-budget Korean dramas, the vast majority of series are specifically designed to be just one season long.
Unfortunately, there is no information to suggest that this would be any different for Record of Youth, with the production team recently commenting that the finale could be the “last page of this glorious day of youth.”
However, the series remains extremely popular both in South Korea on tvN and around the world on Netflix, giving hope to fans that a second season could one day be ordered.
According to Nielsen Media Research, every episode of Record of Youth was watched by over 1.4 million people in South Korea and episode 12 specifically was watched by over 8.2% of the entire national audience.
Only time will tell whether Record of Youth’s incredible popularity around the world will be enough to warrant renewal for a second season. This article will be updated as soon as information on season 2 is officially confirmed, so keep checking back in!
Record of Youth season 2 release date…
- If Record of Youth is renewed for a second season, fans shouldn’t expect it to premiere until late 2022 because of Park Bo-gum’s military enlistment.
Following filming for season 1 wrapping up, the South Korean actor enlisted for his mandatory service in the military.
Park Bo-gum will be a sailor in the South Korean Navy until April 2022 and if season 2 would follow a similar production schedule to the first instalment, the hit K-drama wouldn’t return until at least winter 2022.
This is of course all dependent on Record of Youth being renewed for a second season.
