Richard Foster has claimed that Celtic defender Shane Duffy needs to be dropped by Neil Lennon after another poor performance against Aberdeen at the weekend.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Foster says that Duffy looks to be struggling with the speed of the Scottish game.
And he feels that Lennon needs to take the Celtic central defender out of his side, after their recent slump in form.
“I think he has to make personal changes. Duffy coming in, he looks like he has struggled with the pace of the game in Scotland,” Foster said.
“Anything straight up and down he can go and head it, but anything down the side of him or players with pace, he doesn’t seem to enjoy that.”
“I think maybe he needs to be taken out.”
Duffy did not cover himself in glory yesterday, as Celtic slipped to a 3-3 draw with Aberdeen.
The Bhoys showed their attacking quality, but they were undone by some poor defending, as they slipped further behind Rangers in the league table.
Duffy has now played in a back-three and a back-four since moving to Celtic, but he has not looked entirely comfortable in either system.
The problem for Celtic right now is if they are to drop Duffy they don’t have too many other proven options on the bench who can play in central defence.
The Bhoys are next in action against Lille, when their frail backline is set to be tested heavily again.
