According to TEAMtalk, Reading captain Liam Moore is wanted by Newcastle United and West Ham United ahead of the January transfer window.
It’s claimed that Leicester City are leading the race, and are considering an approach to bring Moore back to the club given that he came up through the ranks with the Foxes.
Newcastle and West Ham are also keen though, whilst Crystal Palace, Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers are thought to be interested too.
It’s unclear just how much Moore would cost to sign, but Reading will surely put up a real fight to keep hold of their skipper during the January window.
The Royals sit top of the Championship table with six wins from seven, and Moore has been leading a defence that has conceded just once and kept six clean sheets.
If Reading are still in promotion contention come January, they will be desperate to keep him at the Madejski Stadium – but the lure of the Premier League may be strong.
The 27-year-old has only ever made 11 Premier League appearances in his career, and may well see a golden chance to reach the top flight if this rumoured interest is real.
Newcastle could well be in the market for a new centre back given that Fabian Schar’s future is unclear, whilst West Ham only have Craig Dawson on loan and could see Moore as a more long-term solution.
Leicester are the big threat here given that Moore was born in Loughborough and grew up supporting Leicester, joining the club aged just eight, so beating the Foxes to him could be difficult.
