It all started when both Leeds and Aston Villa were in the Championship, but it seems as though an entertaining rivalry is brewing between both clubs.

Following Marcelo Bielsa’s side 3-0 win at Villa Park on Friday night, which ended their 100% start to the season, Leeds’ official Twitter account couldn’t help but hit back at Gabby Agbonlahor for his previous comments aimed at the club.

Well, a certain ex-Leeds defender, Danny Mills, also got in on the act and he aimed a few jabs of his own at Agbonlahor on Instagram.

In the comments section of Agbonlahor’s Instagram posts, Mills wrote a number of messages once the full-time result came through:

‘@ga11offical looking sharper than Villa… LEEDS are a myth’ added with laughing emojis.

Mills then commented further by saying: @ga11offical 2 shots on target for Villa… How the [swearing emjois] should they have scored 3 goals…’

There’s no doubt that Leeds deserved to win, but the home side also had their chances and they will be disappointed that they didn’t get on the score sheet.

Ezri Konsa’s close-range effort was saved, whilst Jack Grealish had his shot cleared off the line by Luke Ayling in the first half and then his quite incredible solo run at the start of the second half ended up with his shot being saved.

That was the turning point because this 100 miles per hour Leeds team didn’t take their foot off the pedal and a certain Patrick Bamford absolutely punished them.

Whilst a lot of this is banter, it is great to see two of English football’s sleeping giants rising from the ashes in recent years and now battling it out in the Premier League once again.
