Liverpool got back to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday night, coming from behind to beat Sheffield United 2-1 at Anfield.
The Reds had lost 7-2 to Aston Villa and then drew with Everton, so Jurgen Klopp and co will have been hoping to use the midweek win over Ajax to get back on track in the league.
It didn’t start so well though, as Fabinho gave away a penalty for a foul on Oli McBurnie, and Sander Berge stepped up to score from 12 yards.
Liverpool had to fight back and did just that, as Roberto Firmino scored from close range when Sadio Mane’s header was saved by Aaron Ramsdale.
The Reds snatched all three points in the second half, with Mane crossing for Diogo Jota to head home, giving Liverpool the win.
Jota was given a start after superb form for Portugal and a strong cameo against Ajax, as Klopp went with a very attacking lineup on Saturday night.
Signed for £41million from Wolves over the summer, Jota is showing exactly why he is perfect to be Liverpool’s ‘fourth attacker’ – and fans are praising his display.
Some called him a ‘proper bargain’ after a ‘tremendous’ performance, believing that he will become a superstar.
Others branded him ‘the real deal’ and now want to see him as a regular starter rather than a substitute.
