The club’s official website reported the Colombian’s absence and thoughts began to turn to who could replace him in the starting 11.
Today, Ancelotti had a far more optimistic update on James’s fitness, saying he could make the game on the south coast after all.
Ancelotti said that Rodriguez has trained this morning – only partially, however – and he hopes he can train tomorrow.
If he comes through that, then the Italian says he could well be involved against the Saints.
