The Coca-Cola Company is discontinuing 200 drinks brands according to reports. Here’s a list of Coke’s confirmed cancelled drinks brands.
The Coca-Cola Company is one of the biggest players in the global drinks industry.
The company has hundreds of brands in countries around the world and even if you’re drinking a product that isn’t Coca-Cola itself, the chances of it being made by the Coca-Cola Company are high.
However, in October 2020, the Coca-Cola Company announced that it would be discontinuing around 200 drinks brands including some long-standing favourites.
But why is the Coca-Cola Company discontinuing so many products and which drinks are going to be leaving the shelves?
The Coca-Cola Company is discontinuing 200 products
It was announced on October 16th that the Coca-Cola Company would be retiring a number of its products by December 31st, 2020 to ‘re-shape its portfolio.’
CNN Business has since reported that the company is set to discontinue a total of 200 drinks products, almost half of the company’s total 500 drinks brands.
The move, according to Coca-Cola, comes “as part of a global portfolio refresh prioritizing category-leading brands with the greatest potential for growth and scale.”
Speaking in a press release, Coke’s global head of innovation and marketing operations, Cath Coetzer, said: “This isn’t about paring down to a specific number of product offerings under our brands. The objective is to drive impact and growth.”
“It’s about continuing to follow the consumer and being very intentional in deciding which of our brands are most deserving of our investments and resources,” she said, “and also taking the tough but important steps to identify those products that are losing relevance and therefore should exit the portfolio.”
List of Coca-Cola brands being cancelled
The Coca-Cola Company has confirmed several drinks brands that will be discontinued, with the products announced so far including underperforming regional brands or supposedly out-of-date drinks such as Tab and Odwalla.
The products which the Coca-Cola Company has so far confirmed will be leaving store shelves by the end of 2020 are:
- Zico coconut water
- Coca-Cola Life
- Diet Coke Feisty Cherry
- North Neck Ginger Ale
- Delaware Punch
The Coca-Cola Company has confirmed that it will not be releasing the full list of 200 Coca-Cola products being discontinued as it is instead focusing on its current line-up of drinks and future products.
