After Katy Perry urged fans to vote early in this year’s presidential election, people are wondering who she’ll be supporting this November. So, who is Katy Perry voting for?

In a video shared to her Instagram today, Katy Perry urges her followers to vote and explains how to vote early.

“Voting early has never been easier or more convenient, Trust me. And in most places you can vote early by mail or vote early in person,” she says.

It wouldn’t be the first time Katy Perry has urged fans to vote. At the start of October Katy starred in a video made by Jane Fonda which encouraged people to exercise their right to vote. In the video the new mum comically uses a breast pump while telling viewers she’s “pumped to vote”.

Who is Katy Perry voting for?

So we know she votes (and wants her fans to as well) but who is she voting for?

Although we can’t say for certain who she is voting for in this election, she has historically been a Democrat voter.

In August, Katy Perry posted a set of photos with Kamala Harris, Joe Biden’s choice for Vice President. She captioned the images: “I’ve had the privilege of getting to know @kamalaharris over the years and @joebiden choosing her as his running mate is already a testament to his decision making.”

She voted for Hillary

In the 2016 election Katy Perry very openly voted for Hillary Clinton. In fact, over the course of that year, she performed at multiple Democrat events and rallies, including the “Get Out To Vote” rally in Philadelphia and a fundraiser dinner for the Iowa Democratic party, where she appeared on stage with Hillary Clinton.

“I stand and I march with Hillary. I believe in her future, her vision,” she said on stage ahead of the fundraising dinner.

In fact, Katy even filmed herself voting in the 2016 election and uploaded it to her Instagram stories.

Katy Perry’s Obama voting ballot dress

Although Katy has a clear admiration for Hillary Clinton, her democratic voting wasn’t just a one time thing. In 2012, she went on stage dressed as a literal voting ballot for Obama.

Katy performed at an Obama rally in Vegas and sported a white latex dress designed to look like a ballot. The dress read “The President of the United States” with boxes for either Barack Obama with Joe Biden as Vice President, or Mitt Romney. The dress had Obama’s box blacked out, unsurprisingly for Katy.

Katy Perry’s family voted for Trump

Even though Katy is a outspoken about her support for the Democrat party, you might be surprised to find out that, according to the singer, her parents actually voted for Donald Trump in the last election.

At Hillary Clinton’s election night party at the Javits Centre in New York City, Katy announced to the crowd: “Tonight my parents voted for Trump, but you know what? We will still all be sitting at the same table for Thanksgiving,”

“And this is the moment we need to remember: that we all love our parents, and we all love our children. And I can rest easy knowing that both of my young nieces at home will never see themselves as less than equal, anything other than equal.”
