Arsenal fans are excited after an image of Hector Bellerin, William Saliba, Gabriel and Kieran Tierney training together has emerged.
The quartet are expected to be Arsenal’s long-term defensive unit, but they are yet to appear together in a first-team game.
Mikel Arteta has shown a real reluctance towards utilising Saliba since his arrival at Arsenal.
However, it seems that they are training together, in a signal that they may play in a back-four alongside each other before long.
It really is only Saliba out of the group who seemingly needs to prove himself to Arteta before many Arsenal fans’ defence of choice can be seen in operation.
Tierney, Bellerin and Gabriel all seem to have forced their ways into Arsenal’s starting plans, but Saliba is a long way down the pecking order.
The teenaged centre-back was almost loaned out over the summer, but instead has been kept around, with Arteta seemingly hoping to develop him on the training ground.
Arsenal are in action later this evening against Rapid Wien in the Europa League, and it will be interesting to see who is selected to start at the back for the Gunners, as Arteta is expected to rotate his side for the contest.
