Neil Lennon has been speaking to the media ahead of Celtic’s Europa League clash with AC Milan, and he’s provided an update on Ryan Christie, Odsonne Edouard, Christopher Jullien and James Forrest.
As quoted by the club’s official Twitter account, Lennon said: ‘Ryan Christie will be back in the squad. Odsonne is undergoing some health and safety tests so that we can be as safe as possible for his return.
‘We’re hoping to have him back for the weekend. Jullien and Forrest are still out.’
It should come as fantastic news for Celtic supporters to have Christie back.
The attacking midfielder has been in fine form for the reigning Scottish champions this season, scoring three goals and assisting seven more in just 13 games.
However, the spotlight will presumably be on Edouard’s continued absence.
The former Paris Saint-Germain striker is still missing as he attempts to move on from contracting Coronavirus, and all the time he’s missing, Lennon will be sweating.
Who wouldn’t miss a forward who scored 27 goals and assisted 19 more last term?
It’s also a shame to see Jullien and Forrest continue to miss out, as both men are key players for Lennon.
Regardless of who’s available and who isn’t, Celtic have a job on their hands and every player must bring their A-game.
Dealing with the likes of Sandro Tonali and Zlatan Ibrahimovic won’t be easy, so everyone must be focused.
The same could be said for every European game Celtic face during the group stage. Lille and Sparta Prague won’t be easier opponents by any means.
Let’s just hope Lennon has Edouard, Jullien and Forrest back in time for those clashes!
