Fortnite’s Halloween “Fortnitemares” update has arrived, and with it, a variety of new and intriguing content that’s going to drop over the next two weeks.

Halloween is always a big time in Fortnite, with Fortnitemares providing spooky twists on the classic Battle Royale formula. Every year, this event is tweaked to provide something new and fresh, but only lasts for around a week before disappearing, never to return in quite the same form again.

This time around, players get the chance to become undead monsters, getting revenge on their living opponents, thanks to the return of Midas.

What’s in the Fortnitemares Halloween update?

In Fortnitemares 2020’s Halloween update, death isn’t the end of your Battle Royale experience. Eliminated players are able to take on the role of Shadows to try and kill still-living players.

Shadows are able to possess vehicles in order to achieve this goal, and are even able to battle against former squadmates, just to lend a little extra drama to the match.

Epic Games is apparently also playing with the feel of the Charge Shotgun, which could dramatically impact the way it’s used in battle. The company is looking for feedback, so it’s worth giving this weapon a try.

Fortnite Halloween tricks and treats

Fortnite’s Fortnitemares Halloween update brings the expected themed weapons and cosmetics for players to grab. Scattered across the game map will be a festive Pumpkin Rocket Launcher, Fiend Hunter Crossbow, and Witch Broom. There’s also candy, and a new “special invention” from Midas.

Players can also get a variety of new gear, including Midas’ Shadow Wrap, the Smash O’-Lantern Pickaxe, Bobo Back Bling. Apparently, more is on the way, and not everything has been revealed just yet.

From the sounds of it, this year’s Fortnitemares event will have a few surprises in store for players who check out the Halloween update.
