The Crown Tundra, the second chunk of DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield on the Nintendo Switch, has reached its release time. Those who’ve been waiting for more Pokémon adventures finally have more to explore in their quest to Catch ‘Em All.
The new Crown Tundra area adds a snowy touch to the UK-inspired region of Galar, and provides players with the chance to catch a variety of legendary Pokémon that were missing from the main game.
Fans of the series are eager to get started on the new expansion as soon as possible. So when does Crown Tundra come out, and what time can fans download and play the new area?
What is the Crown Tundra release time?
Update: While the specific release time for the Crown Tundra DLC is unknown, the Pokémon Home app will receive an update from 19:00 ET on October 22nd to 00:00 midnight ET on October 23rd in the US – it’s likely that the DLC will launch during this window.
The UK’s time for updates has passed, so it seems that the DLC will not follow standard Nintendo practices.

What is the price for the Crown Tundra DLC?
At the time of its release, the Pokémon Crown Tundra DLC is only available with the Pokémon Sword & Shield Expansion Pass, which is priced at $29.99 in the United States, and £26.99 in the United Kingdom.
It’s currently not possible to buy the Expansion Pass’s two DLC packages, the Isle of Armor and the Crown Tundra, separately. What’s more, customers should be careful to purchase the correct Expansion Pass for their version of the games – the Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass is only compatible with Pokémon Shield , while the Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass will only work with Pokémon Sword.
Nintendo has stated that a physical premium edition of Pokémon Sword & Shield is coming in the future, which will include all DLC on a cartridge. This will go on sale November 6th, so players will have to wait a little longer after the Crown Tundra’s release date if they want to purchase the package physically.
