Yesterday, October 19th, Tiffany Haddish appeared as the host of The Ellen Show, but some fans were left a little confused. So, why is Tiffany Haddish hosting Ellen?

Tiffany filled in for Ellen DeGeneres as a guest day host, rather than a permanent replacement. If you’re worried about where Ellen is, guest hosts are nothing out of the ordinary for the NBC show which has regularly had them in the past.

In March, Alec Baldwin starred as a guest host while in January, Jennifer Aniston stepped in to try out her hosting skills.

According to TV Insider, Ellen said last year that she feels having guest hosts is a tradition: “Throughout the season, I’ve had wonderful people filling in for me as guest hosts. It’s a tradition that dates back to Johnny Carson, he would have guest hosts all the time. And I like to follow tradition, especially if it involves me missing work.”

Other times Tiffany Haddish has hosted Ellen

This isn’t the first time Tiffany has proved that she’s a dab hand at hosting either, as she acted as guest host at the start of October, which she dubbed the ‘Tiffany Haddish Show’ and impressed viewers.

One YouTube comment reads: “Tiffany Haddish is hilarious she needs her own show. My tummy hurts from laughing.”

Tiffany offers support to Ellen

Tiffany Haddish hosting the Ellen show might not come as a shock to some viewers, after the actress supported the NBC host during her interview on the show.

When Tiffany appeared as a regular guest on The Ellen Show in September, she said: “‘I mean, you the best. You know, I love you and I support you 110%” after Ellen thanked her for accepting the invitation to appear on the show.

Tiffany was Ellen’s first guest since she made headlined for claims of a toxic working environment by ex-colleagues and guests on the show.
