Noel Whelan praised Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk on BBC Radio Leeds (10:14pm, October 19, 2020) for his performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday evening.
The former Leeds striker, who now works as a pundit for BBC Radio Leeds, said that the 21-year-old did better than he expected him to in the Premier League game at Elland Road.
The Dutchman, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, was not expected to start against Wolves, but an injury to Liam Cooper during warm-up saw the youngster get his chance.
Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds (10:14pm, October 19, 2020); “I have got to say Struijk coming in, late notice, very professional, great game, looked a lot better than what I thought he would do.
“He has been playing that defensive midfield role as well. Sometimes it’s hard to adapt, but he was excellent again as well, Struijk.”

How did Pascal Struijk play for Leeds United?
Struijk is a very talented and promising young defender who did well against Wolves.
The Wanderers have a very strong attacking unit which includes Mexico international striker Raul Jimenez, but the 21-year-old did not get fazed by it.
While the youngster did look a bit shaky on occasions in the second half, he was solid in the opening 45 minutes and showed a lot of maturity.
Perhaps Struijk could have done better for the goal that Jimenez scored, but these things happen with every footballer.
According to WhoScored, the youngster had a pass accuracy of 89.6%, won one header, took 56 touches, and made two tackles and three clearances.
