Wolverhampton Wanderers central defender Conor Coady praised Leeds United on Sky Sports Football (10:03pm, October 19, 2020).

The England international centre-back was impressed with the performance of Leeds after playing against Marcelo Bielsa’s side at Elland Road in the Premier League on Monday evening.

Although Wolves won the match 1-0, Coady was impressed by the display produced by the Whites and was pleased to have picked up all three points against the West Yorkshire club.

Coady said on Sky Sports Football (10:03pm, October 19, 2020), as transcribed by BBC Sport: “It was a massive result for us, we knew how tough it would be.

“They were fantastic last season, they play at 100mph but we stuck at our plan. It’s hard to get after them, you have to play with your brain.

“They were very attacking, we looked at that and then we got a bit of control in the second half.”

Disappointing result for Leeds United

Wolves got lucky with the goal they scored, as Raul Jimenez’s effort on 70 minutes was deflected in by Kalvin Phillips.

Leeds took 13 shots, but only two of them were on target, and despite having 68% of the possession and earning 13 corners, as stated on BBC Sport, they failed to pick up even a point from the encounter.

Wolves were not at their best, but the Wanderers got the job done, perhaps an indication of the advantage they have over Leeds in terms of Premier League experience.

Leeds will return to action on Friday evening when they take on Aston Villa away from home at Villa Park in the Premier League.
