A new drama series based on the widely popular BTS Universe game called ‘Youth’ is in production, but who has been cast in the highly-anticipated series?

More information on the upcoming Korean drama series based on the BTS Universe video game has been revealed.

The series, titled ‘Youth’, has announced the cast for the seven lead roles and revealed when the BTS K-drama is expected to premiere.

BTS Universe ‘Youth’ release date…

At the time of writing, BTS Universe ‘Youth’ will release sometime in 2021.

Unfortunately, a more specific release date has not been revealed but with production yet to officially begin, fans shouldn’t expect the series to premiere before summer 2021.

Seo Ji-hoon as Kim Seok-jin

Kim Seok-jin’s character ‘Jin’ will be portrayed by Seo Ji-hoon, a 23-year-old actor from Daegu, South Korea.

Ji-hoon would gain recognition as a young actor in 2016 when he appeared in Matching! Boys Archery as yoo Ji-wan, Solomon’s Perjury as Bae Joon-young and the special drama The Legendary Shuttle as Jo Tae-woong.

Ji-hoon would then go on to feature in various successful television drama’s, including School 2017 (2017), Prison Playbook (2017), Misty (2018), Tale of Fairy (2018), Drama Stage: Crumbling Friendship (2019), Meow, the Secret Boy (2020) and Men are Men (2020).

In Youth, Ji-hoon will play ‘Jin’, a boy who works are the National Assembly but lives in the shadow of his father. Despite his perfect looks and style, he struggles to express his emotions, especially regarding what he wants to do in life.

Noh Jong-hyun as Min Yoon-gi

Min Yoon-hi’s character ‘Suga’ will be portrayed Noh Jong-hyun, a 27-year-old actor from Busan, South Korea.

Jong-hyun made his television debut in 2017 in tvN’s hit series Because This Is My First Life as Yoon Ji-seok, followed by roles in OCN’s Short and Life on Mars in 2018.

Jong-hyun would then feature in He Is Psychometric (2019), Drama Stage: Blackout (2020) and Kkondae Intern (2020). He will also play a lead role in the upcoming series Live On, which premieres in November.

In Youth, Suga is a boy who is rumoured to have killed his mother and setting fire to his own house. Whilst these rumours may be untrue, he feels isolated having lost his mother with the only escape being to play the piano.

Ahn Ji-ho as Jung Ho-seok

Jung Ho-seok’s character ‘J-Hope’ will be played by Ahn Ji-ho, a 16-year old South Korean actor.

Ji-ho started his acting career in the popular web-series Drawing, Spring in 2014, but rose to acclaim in 2016 when he played Sang-chul in Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned.

He has since gone onto star in The Princess and the Matchmaker (2018), Along with the Gods (2018), A Boy and Sungreen (2019), Inseparable Bros (2019), The House of Us (2019) and Nobody Knows (2020).

In Youth, J-Hope is a dancing machine who despite a tragic childhood of being abandoned by his family, remains positive and tries to bring happiness to others.

Seo Young-joo as Kim Nam-joon

Kim Nam-joon’s character ‘RM’ will be played by Seo Young-joo, a 22-year-old actor from Seoul, South Korea.

Young-joo is arguably one of the more experienced cast members in Youth, first appearing in 2008 on A Frozen Flower as Young Han-baek. He has since gone onto star in a variety of feature films, including The Thieves (2012), Juvenile Offender (2012), Moebius (2013), The Treacherous (2015), The Age of Shadows (2016) and Snowy Road (2017).

He has also appeared in a range of television series, such as May Queen (2012), Hello Monster (2015), Solomon’s Perjury (2016), Girls Generation 1979 (2017), Beautiful World (2019) and Nobody Knows (2020).

In Youth, RM is a boy who dreams of living a normal, easy-going life. He works several jobs and knows the harsh realities of the world, but feels great responsibility for the work he does.

Jung Woo-jin as Kim Tae-hyung

Kim Tae-hyung’s character ‘V’ will be portrayed by 15-year-old actor Jung Woo-jin.

Woo-jin first appeared in the SBS’ 2012 drama Take Care of Us, Captain and would go onto star in The Coin Locker (2015), Chronicle of a Blood Merchant (2015) and Vanishing Time: A Boy Who Returned (2016).

In Youth, V is a young boy struggling to take care of his alcoholic father, but who hopes his estranged mother will one day return and save the family from certain destruction.

Jeon Jin-seo as Jeon Jung-kook

Jeon Jung-kook’s character in Youth will be portrayed by Jeon Jin-seo, a 14-year-old actor from South Korea.

Despite his age, Jin-seo is one of the most experienced actors in the cast, featuring in a range of television dramas.

His most notable roles are from The King’s Daughter (2013), Mama (2014), Hwajung (2015), Cinderella and the Four Knights (2016), Bad Thief, Good Thief (2017), School of Magic (2017), Black (2017), The Tale of Nokdu (2019), Mr Sunshine (2019) and The World of the Married (2020).

In Youth, Jungkook is curious about the reason why he exists and questions everything about his life. He feels isolated from his family and the typical happiness he should enjoy, which causes complex thoughts to swell up.

Kim Yoon-woo as Park Ji-min

Unfortunately, very little is known about Kim Yoon-woo, with Youth being the first major role of his career.

Yoon-woo will play the role of ‘Jimin’, a boy who, despite his outward appearance, is traumatised by his childhood and hides a dark secret about himself.
