Tottenham Hotspur host West Ham United in the Premier League today, and do so having made a new signing on Friday evening.
Spurs wanted another centre back having failed to replace Jan Vertonghen, and made Swansea City’s Joe Rodon their top target ahead of the EFL deadline.
In the end, Tottenham struck an impressive deal worth just £11million for Rodon, who adds depth to Jose Mourinho’s options at the back.
The 22-year-old won’t face West Ham today, but fans will be excited to see him in action moving forward having impressed in the Championship.
On Saturday, Swansea played for the first time since selling Rodon, and fell to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Huddersfield Town.
That was their first defeat of the season, and some fans on Twitter felt that the big problem in the loss was that they missed Rodon massively.
Supporters took to Twitter to curse Rodon’s departure, suggesting that Swansea ‘dearly miss’ him and now appreciate that he was more important than some thought.
Others want Rodon to come back already, and branded Swansea a ‘shambles’ without him, believing Spurs fans should now know just how good he really is.
