Tim Sherwood predicted on Sky Sports News (1:54pm, October 17, 2020) that Tottenham Hotspur will not win the Premier League title this season.
However, the former Tottenham manager, who now works as a pundit for Sky Sports, believes that Jose Mourinho’s side could challenge the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the title.
Sherwood said on Sky Sports News (1:54pm, October 17, 2020): “Can they win the title? I would have to say no. It’s so unpredictable this year.
“The unpredictability of Liverpool getting hammered, Man City dropping points, could it be for someone else from the outside?
“Could it be Tottenham? With the squad of players they have got, it could absolutely be Tottenham. It could be Everton.”
Sherwood is not the first former Spurs manager this season to claim that the North London club could challenge for the Premier League title.
Earlier this month, Harry Redknapp told Sky Sports that Tottenham could be serious challengers for the championship.
Tottenham Hotspur for Premier League title?
With the signing of Gareth Bale on loan from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window, Tottenham now have a very strong attacking unit.
Harry Kane remains one of the best strikers in the world, while Son Heung-min is an exciting forward player.
Jose Mourinho is a world-class manager and a serial winner, and given how Spurs have done so far this season, fans will be optimistic of a very successful campaign.
However, Liverpool and City have the best squads in the Premier League, and Spurs’ main objective this season has to be to clinch a place in the top four.
