West Ham fans have taken to Twitter in disbelief after The Mirror exclusively revealed that Said Benrahma has failed his medical ahead of a £25 million move from Brentford.
The report states that the 5-cap Algeria international’s move to the London Stadium has now been placed in jeopardy, after the Hammers discovered the worrying news on Friday morning.
The Mirror say that West Ham are working to try and keep the deal alive, but they’ll have a race against time on their hands with the 5pm deadline looming.
This news will come as a massive blow to the east Londoners, who have only signed Vladimir Coufal and Craig Dawson in the transfer window.
Benrahma looked like he would’ve been a truly brilliant signing to compliment the already-fantastic trio of Michail Antonio, Pablo Fornals and Jarrod Bowen.
The Brentford No.10 impressively netted 17 Championship goals last season, while also setting up ten more.
After selling Grady Diangana and loaning out Felipe Anderson, it would represent an underwhelming window if West Ham don’t find a way to resurrect the Benrahma deal.
There is still time to do so, but at the time of writing, things are looking pretty bleak.
Let’s see what the West Ham fans on Twitter have been saying…
