Rolando Aarons’ move from Newcastle United to Huddersfield Town is off, according to Yorkshire Live.
The website had previously claimed that Huddersfield were hopeful of completing a deal for Aarons, with Newcastle ‘keen to cash in’.
But it now states that the paperwork ‘does appear to have gone through in time’ for Friday’s 5pm deadline for domestic deals.
Aarons will now be forced to remain on the fringes of Newcastle’s first team until January at the earliest, unless a team for whom the transfer window remains open comes in for him.
The 24-year-old is out of contract on Tyneside next summer and this is the first window in six that he hasn’t left the club on loan, after spells at Hellas Verona, Slovan Liberec, Sheffield Wednesday, Wycombe Wanderers and Motherwell.

Whether or not Huddersfield will return for Aarons at the next available opportunity remains to be seen.
But the Terriers can still recruit players who were already free agents ahead of the deadline.
