Karen Pence, 63, is the current second lady of the United States.
She was a schoolteacher and painter and was the First Lady of Indiana from 2013 to 2017.
Karen attended Butler University where she did a major in teaching. She holds a BS and MA degrees in elementary education from the university.
She taught at several elementary schools such as John Strange Elementary and Acton Elementary, which are based in Indianapolis.
Karen was a teacher for 25 years before Mike became a governor of Indiana.
She has been a huge support and force to her husband during his vice-presidential campaign.
Who is Karen Pence’s first husband?
Karen’s first husband is called Dr. John Steven Whitaker. Karen was 21 years old when she married her high school sweetheart.
The couple got married in 1978 but divorced not long after that.
Karen and John’s sudden divorce was reportedly a result of their young marriage and John’s busy schedule as a medical student, The Washington Post has reported previously.
Speaking to the publication, Dr. Whitaker said:
“We were kids. We probably didn’t necessarily know what we were doing.”

Karen and Mike Pence met at the parking lot at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Indianapolis in 1983.
Karen, who was 26 years old, was attending a Mass at the church when she first met him.
At the time, she was teaching at a local school, while Mike was studying law at Indiana University.
Karen and Mike got engaged in 1984 and tied the knot in 1985. They have three children together called Michael, Charlotte and Audrey.
