With the new Snapchat update, it’s not just celebrities who can have Public profiles and be Creators – here’s how you can get one too.
Snapchat always tends to update its app when you least expect it, leaving users pretty confused when they log into the app one day and are greeted with a load of new features.
One popular new feature that Snapchat just introduced is the ability to add music to your photos and videos like you can on Instagram Stories. You can only choose from a list of specific songs and there isn’t a search bar, but it’s still pretty cool.
Another thing some Snapchat users began noticing was that their account had turned from a normal profile into a Public one, and they were now known as a Creator.
Find out exactly how to turn your account into a Public Creator profile below.
What is a Snapchat Public Creator profile?
With its latest update, Snapchat has introduced the ability for anyone to be eligible to have a Creator profile – but what is it?
Most people recognise Creator profiles as something that celebrities have, allowing fans to ‘subscribe’ to their Snapchat. However, it’s not just celebrities that can be a Creator anymore.
A Creator Profile is given to someone if they have an engaged following or make Community Lenses, and lets you showcase your creativity and help fans find you on Snapchat.
With a Creator profile, you can also let other trusted Snapchatters help manage your Public Profile with special roles.
It’s not available to everyone though, and you have to be chosen by Snapchat to get one, but there are a few things you can do to help yourself become a Creator.
How to get a Public Creator profile on Snapchat
If you want to know how to turn your profile into a Creator profile then I’ve got some bad news for you, you can’t. There isn’t a magic button in the settings that will transform your account, and instead, you have to be chosen by Snapchat to automatically have your profile changed.
However, Snapchat outline on their website a few things you can do to help yourself get a public profile:
- Create Lenses.
One of the best ways to help your account change into a Public Creator is to create your own Lenses, which are Snapchat’s version of an AR filter. Anyone can create Lenses using the free software Lens Studio.
- Engage with stories.
Another way to make your account worthy of being a Creator profile is to engage with stories, and also to create shared stories.
- Grow your audience.
Creator profiles are only given to accounts that have a large and engaged following, so growing your audience will give you a much better chance of getting a public profile.
