Arsenal fans have been left impressed by Houssem Aouar’s performance for France last night.
Aouar, who Arsenal spent most the summer chasing, made his debut for the French national side, as they beat Ukraine 7-0.
Although the Lyon midfielder only played for an hour, he did enough to impress the onlooking Arsenal fans.
And many Gunners supporters appear to be hoping the club continue to pursue a move for him, even though they failed to get a deal over the line this summer.
Aouar has remained at Lyon, so it is likely that his future will be heavily speculated about again next summer.
Whether Arsenal will remain interested is yet to be seen, but Mikel Arteta is a big fan of the 22-year-old, as reported by ESPN.
Arsenal did strengthen their midfield by bringing in Thomas Partey, but there is a feeling that Aouar could be the ideal partner for the Ghanaian in the long-term.
Aouar is more creative than Partey, but doesn’t have quite as much defensive ability as Arsenal’s newest recruit.
