Sheffield United’s proposed move for the Huddersfield Town defender Terence Kongolo has hit a snag according to The Daily Mail (10:22, deadline day live blog).
The newspaper claims the hitch occurred following medical tests.
Kongolo is said to have only recently recovered from a broken foot that required metal re-enforcement and saw him play just twice for loan club, Fulham, in the second half of last season.
And Sheffield United are unsure when the £18 million Huddersfield recruit will be match fit again, according to The Daily Mail.
Fulham were last week described by Yorkshire Live as the favourites for Kongolo.
But the Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder discussed on Sunday his desire to sign a replacement for the injured Jack O’Connell.

The Blades have also been credited with an interest in the respective Bournemouth and Preston North End defender, Diego Rico and Ben Davies, by The Sun.
Like Kongolo, both Rico and Davies can still be signed by United after Monday’s 11pm deadline for Premier League and global transfers.
It remains to be seen what impact The Daily Mail‘s report will have on Fulham’s alleged Kongolo interest.
