Bayern Munich have announced the arrival of Marc Roca, just weeks after he was described as a ‘dream’ signing for Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

La Razon claimed in August that Arsenal were keen on bringing Roca in from Espanyol, but they have now missed out.

Roca has ended up joining Bayern, with the German side deciding to add him to their midfield after losing Thiago Alcantara.

“We’re very happy to have signed Marc Roca. He’s an outstanding fit for our team both as a player and a person, and will continue to develop here with us. We’re sure he’ll add great value to our team,” Hasan Salihamidzic told Bayern’s official website.

Roca now being unavailable could be a real blow for Arsenal as they look to bolster their midfield ranks.

The Gunners’ chances of signing Houssem Aouar now appear to be over, and Thomas Partey also looks an unlikely buy at this stage.

Roca could have presented a viable alternative, especially with Arteta apparently very keen, but Arsenal’s failure to move for him at an earlier stage this transfer window means that he has now moved elsewhere.

Roca is expected to play a covering role at Bayern, with Hansi Flick’s side already possessing an enviable set of options in midfield.
