Rangers are close to agreeing a fee for the Amiens midfielder, Bongani Zungu, according to Kick Off.

Zungu has been linked with a move to Rangers throughout the summer transfer window and is said to have refused a new contract, with his existing one due to expire next year.

But it is claimed that Steven Gerrard’s side are nearing a last-minute breakthrough for the player previously valued at around £3.6 million.

West Ham, meanwhile, could conclude a lengthy pursuit of their own this month, according to The Daily Mirror (5 October, page 42).

The West Ham manager David Moyes is said to have regularly kept tabs on the Queens Park Rangers left-back, Ryan Manning, last season.

And it is claimed that the Hammers are ‘hopeful they can snap up’ Manning for just £5m, as QPR continue to exclude him from first-team fixtures.

Elsewhere, a reported West Ham, Newcastle United and Leeds United target, Joao Mario, is wanted by one of his former clubs.

West Ham, Newcastle and Leeds have all ‘shown an interest’ in the former Hammers loanee, according to O Jogo.

But a return to the London Stadium does not appear to be on the cards for Mario, whom Sporting are ‘trying to borrow’, according to Record.

It was claimed that the Portugal star would undergo a medical at Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday, but that particular story has since been removed from  L’Equipe‘s website.

Staying on the theme of West Ham and Portuguese players, the Hammers-linked Benfica winger, Jota, be off to La Liga.

West Ham and Everton were ‘fighting’ for Jota’s signature, according to Record.

But Real Valladolid are now bidding for the 21-year-old, and a loan move ‘could be at an advanced stage’, according to AS.

Rangers fans, that is not the same Jota with whom the Gers were repeatedly linked while Mark Warburton was manager – he’s just signed for Deportivo Alaves after leaving Aston Villa last week.

And finally, Brighton and Hove Albion enquired about the Bournemouth striker, Josh King, last week but a deal was not agreed, according to The Telegraph.
