Leeds United continue to be linked with new signings, and Bayern Munich ace Michael Cusaince should be heading to Elland Road soon.
Despite the rumours of Cuisance’s arrival, Leeds were linked with a deal for another midfielder on Wednesday morning.
Tuttomercatoweb reported that Leeds had started talks to sign Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez, with Marcelo Bielsa keen to lure him to Elland Road.
The Uruguayan international would be a surprising addition if Leeds do sign Cuisance, but there may well be some substance to the rumours.
Tommaso Guilini, Cagliari’s president, has been quoted by TMW as saying that Leeds want Nandez and Cagliari teammate Giovanni Simeone.
However, Cagliari don’t want to weaken their side, and Guilini claims it is ‘too late now’ to sanction their exits because they can’t be replaced at such short notice.
“Both Nandez and Simeone are players who Leeds like, but it is excluded that these players leave in the last few days, because we are going to weaken and that’s not what we want to do. It’s too late now, there wouldn’t be time to replace them,” he added.

Nandez has been linked for a while now, but the claimed Simeone interest is certainly new, and something of a surprise given that Leeds already have Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo Moreno up top.
Simeone, 25, is the son of Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone, and has bagged 13 goals in 38 games for Cagliari, having previously impressed at Genoa and Fiorentina.
The Argentina international only made his Cagliari move permanent this past summer, but Bielsa seemingly fancied pinching him anyway – and the Serie A side have stood firm.
