Queens Park Rangers are set to make a third bid for Macauley Bonne and are leading Huddersfield Town, Barnsley and Swansea City in pursuit of the Charlton Athletic striker, according to the Sun (30 September, page 51).

Addicks boss Lee Bowyer told London Football News on Tuesday that he is under no pressure to sell any of his star players before Monday’s deadline – thanks to a long-awaited takeover by Danish tycoon Thomas Sandgaard.

But that has not stopped London neighbours QPR from trying to test Bowyer’s resolve.

The Sun reports that Mark Warburton’s Rangers are the most likely destination for Bonne at present, despite interest from Championship rivals Barnsley, Swansea and Huddersfield.

QPR have had two bids rejected so far for the Zimbabwe international, but they will return with a third and potentially final offer worth over £1 million.

Ipswich-born Bonne, a late-bloomer who made his name in Non-league a la Jamie Vardy and Andre Gray, scored an impressive 11 goals in 33 Championship games last season as Charlton were relegated from the second tier.

QPR are far better going forward than they are at the back but, after losing Eberechi Eze and Jordan Hugill, attacking reinforcements are a must if Rangers are to force their way into play-off contention.

New number nine Lyndon Dykes has scored twice so far, although both of his goals have come from the penalty spot.
