Roy Keane has told Monday Night Football, which was broadcast on Sky Sports on 28th September, that Arsenal still need defensive recruits.
Arsenal ended up losing 3-1 to Liverpool last night, with Mikel Arteta’s side struggling to deal with Liverpool’s attacking quality at times.
Arsenal’s defence was exposed on occasion, with many of their backline struggling.
And Keane was ruthless in his analysis, suggesting that Rob Holding, David Luiz and Kieran Tierney all may need to be replaced.
“He needs more players to help. You saw them defensively tonight. I still think Luiz, Tierney and Holding, there are big question marks against them at the back,” Keane said.
Luiz and Holding have faced plenty of question marks about their performances in recent times, so they are no strangers to criticism.
However, for Keane to suggest Tierney may have question marks over him is a surprise.
The £25 million left-back (BBC Sport) has generally done exceptionally well in Arsenal’s team in recent months, and become Arteta’s first choice in the position.
Tierney did struggle last night, though, with Salah’s pace clearly causing him all sorts of problems.
