Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to heap praise on David Turnbull, following Sunday’s 3-0 win over Hibernian.
The 21-year-old – who recently signed from Motherwell in a deal worth £3 million – made his debut after coming on for Ryan Christie at half-time.
Turnbull performed brilliantly in his 45-minute cameo, making an immediate impression on Celtic supporters who were presumably eager to see what he could do.
According to WhoScored, he registered four key passes which was more than any other player on the pitch managed.
One of those led to Mohamed Elyounoussi’s goal, while Turnbull also had two shots himself with one on target.
He definitely made a great first impression.
Celtic’s No.14 also completed three successful crosses – more than any Hoops player managed – while he ended the game with an impressive 91.8% pass success rate.
There must’ve been plenty of excitement surrounding the midfielder before a ball had even been kicked, seeing as Neil Lennon had been pursuing his services since last summer.
A deal was nearly all wrapped up for Turnbull, but he failed his medical and the transfer collapsed as The Daily Record reported.
The Bhoys have now finally got their man, and what a player he appears to be.
Let’s see what the Celtic fans on Twitter have been saying about him…

Reminded me of Broony when he first signed👌🏻
Could he be the successor we’ve been looking for🤔🍀
Great result celtic, 🍀 frimpong is class, ajer Duffy n Biton look as if that’s our back 3, never rule broonie out, turnbull looks as if he’s the missing link, n edouard isn’t fit imo, but we’ll happy with that result HH 🍀— Scott Carrick (@ScottCarrick1) September 27, 2020
David Turnbull looked like he’s been playing in that Celtic midfield for years, in that 2nd half— Rory Hamilton (@HamiltonRory) September 27, 2020
Young Turnbull will soon take Christies place.— 9inarow.net 🍀 Celtic Merchandise 🍀 (@9inarowdotnet) September 27, 2020
Christie is far to erratic and spoils a lot of the midfields work.
From what we seen today from Turnbull, the whole dynamic of the team will change because of Turnbull.
So so calm, sees a pass, and covers the ground so so well.
