According to The Sun, West Brom are eyeing a shock move for Emmanuel Adebayor if they fail to land a new frontman before the October 5th deadline.
The report states that Slaven Bilic has held discussions with the former Arsenal and Tottenham striker, who has scored 205 goals throughout his career.
Interestingly, The Sun state that the Togolese striker harbours one huge personal ambition.
Currently sat on 97 Premier League goals, Adebayor is reportedly desperate to net three more to take himself to a century.
The 36-year-old has been without a club since July after leaving Olimpia, but the report says the free agent has been keeping himself fit by training twice a day at home.
Bilic has already signed Callum Robinson to add to his striking ranks, but there isn’t much competition for his space.
Hal Robson-Kanu was the only other recognised centre-forward in the matchday squad last time out against Everton.
Despite the Baggies’ need for a new striker, Adebayor isn’t the answer.
The ex-Real Madrid striker’s career has been winding down for years.
His last three clubs have been İstanbul Başakşehir, Kayserispor and Olimpia, all of whom do not play in divisions as challenging as the Premier League.
In fact, Adebayor only lasted four months at Kayserispor.
His last stint in the Premier League came with Crystal Palace, where he netted just one goal in 15 appearances.
Simply put, Bilic needs more than that with his side expected to be in a relegation battle.
